KINDNESS DRIVE FOR MARCH: Next
month we are collecting juice. (bottles or cans...no glass please.) for
the Ridgewood Social Services Food Pantry. The collection ends on March 9th and I invite everyone to send in at least one item. Your children love putting their can in the bucket and getting a high five from me each month!
Scout Troop 95555 is joining with Project Cicero Northern NJ to collect
new or gently used books for children and young adults. These books
will be donated to local area schools that are under-resourced and have
few if any books in their classrooms. We are accepting new and gently
used hardcover and paperback books for children and young adults,
including picture books, early readers, fiction, nonfiction, and
biographies. No textbooks, adult books, library discards, or reference
books more than five years old please. Please look for the collection
box in the main hallway.

JUMP ROPE FOR HEARTS:
Somerville Elementary School is joining the American Heart Association
to raise money and awareness to fight heart disease! We will be jumping
rope in Physical Education class and learning heart healthy facts
starting on February 13th. We are also participating in the online fundraiser
portion of this event and all proceeds will go to the American Heart
Association. Online fundraising is currently open and will continue
through our whole school Jump Rope for Hearts Day on February 16th.
All our donations will be collected online. Your first donation of $5
or more earns you a Rory McFiercely and Lanyard! The more money you
raise the more prizes you earn! See the flyer on the website under
notices and flyers for more details and the instructions to start your
online fundraising today. Last day for online donations to count towards
prizes is March 1st.

LIP SYNC 2017 - WOW! What a fun night! So much talent at Somerville. Congratulations to all the performers! You did an amazing job. Thank you Liz Hall and Kelly Gazzini for chairing the event. It was such a great night. Thank you Ryan Greaney
for being our MC. Great job as always. And thank you to all the parent
volunteers who helped keep the evening moving smoothly. We couldn’t have
done it without all your help!

READING MARATHON: Ready, Set… READ!!
Keep on reading!! For the entire month of February, read and record as many books as you can. Completed forms that are signed by a parent and returned by March 2 will be eligible to win PRIZES.This

TEACHER APPRECIATION BREAKFAST - We will be recognizing and appreciating our wonderful teachers this Thursday morning Feb. 16th with breakfast. Take a minute to thank your child’s teacher for all that they do.
